2022 Obstgarten Riesling Selection
2022 Obstgarten Riesling Selection
Lightly limey yellow appearance. Delicate and unevolved nose, but showing yellow peach, hints of apricot and softly tropical characters underpinned by sweet orange citrus. Green apple juice and dried apple slices. The palate is demure and restrained, mellow yet with a tingly core of clean acidity that lingers.

“Pale lemon to straw yellow tone. Fragrant papaya, dried mango and a subtle flinty reductive undertone all leap from the glass. Deep and powerful as it rolls with intensity and focus across the palate. Dried mango, honey blossom and candied peel notes all are melded seamlessly. The fruit is bound in a fine gossamer of acidity, as they roll long and deep to a finish that is brought into focus by subtle phenolics. A serious wine that sits outside the usual expectations for Australian riesling but demands attention. (Sweetness 41g/l).” Awarded 98 points by Stuart Knox, for The Real Review.
“Perfectly ripe apricot aromas waft from the glass on first pour. A swirl unlocks aromas of peach skin, orange blossom, orange cake, lime skin, and glimmer of candied lemon peel. There's a good hit of residual sugar and glycerol through the palate bringing texture and viscous, luscious appeal. The palate is laden with apricot, peach and candied orange, all tempered and coiled by pithy phenolics and refreshingly clean acidity. As the wine warms, everything clicks into perfect harmony and pitch; something I've come to expect from Tessa and Jeremy's wines. Another classy release from VS&B.” Awarded 95 points by Tom Kline, for Wine Pilot.
